Grandpa Chico'S Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/3 c. milk or buttermilk
    1 egg
    1/4 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Mix together dry ingredients in bowl.
    Add milk and egg to the dry ingredients and mix the batter.
    Then add melted shortening. Stir gently to mix.
    Bake immediately in a piping hot heavy skillet (about 10-inches) and bake in hot oven at 425\u00b0 to 450\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Serve at once.
    Makes about 6 servings.
