Christmas Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    1/4 c. Karo syrup
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1/2 c. chopped coconut
    1/3 c. chopped candied cherries
Preparation
    Combine sugar, milk, syrup and salt in saucepan; mix well. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture boils and sugar dissolves.
    Cook to 238\u00b0, stirring frequently.
    Remove from heat.
    Add butter and vanilla.
    Cool to 110\u00b0 without stirring. Beat until mixture loses its gloss and a small amount dropped from a spoon will hold its shape.
    Quickly stir in pecans, coconut and cherries.
    Pour into slightly greased pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inch.
    Let cool and cut into squares.
