Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lbs. stew meat
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 sliced onion
    1 clove garlic, chopped
    4 c. water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    bay leaf
    dash of allspice or cloves
    carrots
    potatoes
Preparation
    Heat oil in dutch oven. Add beef and brown on all sides starting on medium high and reducing to medium as it cooks. Add onion and garlic. Add water, salt, lemon juice, sugar, worcestershire sauce, bay leaf and allspice. Simmer for 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. When almost done, remove bay leaf, and add veggies. Thicken with flour or cornstarch mixed with cold water.
