Mama Crow'S Raisin Nut Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. softened butter or margarine
    2 c. sugar
    4 large eggs
    1 1/2 c. jam (blackberry is recommended)
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. ground allspice
    2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. dark raisins
    2/3 c. chopped nuts (prefer pecans)
Preparation
    In large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Beat in eggs well, then add jam.
    Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients and beat well after each addition.
    Stir in raisins and nuts.
    Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
    Bake 40 minutes at 300\u00b0 (or until toothpick inserted in center of layer comes out clean).
    Cool completely on racks.
