Ingredients

1/2 c. butter or Crisco
1/2 c. chopped raisins
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
3 eggs, separated
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. light brown sugar
2 c. plain flour
3 Tbsp. sour milk
1 c. blackberry jam
Preparation

Cream the shortening.
Add sugar gradually; cream until light and fluffy.
Beat egg yolks; add to creamed mixture.
Sift together the soda, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and flour.
Combine jam and sour milk.
Add dry sifted ingredients and jam mixture to the creamed mixture.
Add raisins.
Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into batter.
Divide the batter equally into 2 (8-inch) cake pans.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
