Grandma'S Molasses Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. Sugar
    1 c. Molasses
    1 c. Shortening or Margarine
    1 tsp. Salt
    1 tsp. Cinnamon
    1 tsp. Ginger
    1/2 tsp. Cloves
    2 level tsp. Baking Soda (dissolved in hot water)
    1 Egg
    1/2 c Cold Water
    5/6 c. Flour
    1 tsp. Baking Powder
Preparation
    Cream the sugar and shortening together.
    Add the molasses mixture and beaten egg.
    Sift the flour with the other spices and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture alternately with cold water and soda mixture.
    Roll out and cut the cookies into round shapes or place by teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and press down with the base of a glass covered with flour (quicker).
    Sprinkle with sugar and top with a walnut or pecan.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 10 minutes (keep watch).
