24 Hour Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large head lettuce
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped green pepper
    1 c. chopped onion
    1 pkg. frozen peas
    1 can water chestnuts
    2 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    Parmesan cheese
    bacon bits
    tomato wedges
Preparation
    Layer lettuce, celery, green pepper, onion, peas and water chestnuts in that order.
    Cover with mayonnaise.
    Sprinkle with sugar, Parmesan cheese and bacon bits.
    Add tomato wedges.
    Cover and store overnight.
