Scotch Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 1/2 c. flour
    1 lb. butter or margarine
    1 c. sugar
    sprinkle of salt and nutmeg
    1 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
    1 lb. chopped almonds (optional)
Preparation
    Cream sugar and margarine.
    Add other ingredients.
    Form into balls and pat flat about 1/2-inch thick.
    Bake slowly at 300\u00b0 about 1 hour until pale tan in color.
    While warm, sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
    Store in tins.
    They are better when aged.
