Basic Cornbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 egg
1 1/3 c. milk or 1 3/4 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. vegetable oil or melted shortening
2 c. Martha White plain cornmeal
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Preheat oven to 450\u00b0.
Grease skillet or pan.
Place in oven to heat.
Beat egg in mixing bowl.
Add remaining ingredients. Blend well.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 20 to 25 minutes.
Makes 1 (9-inch) skillet or 9-inch square pan.
Batter should be creamy and pourable.
