Christmas Braid - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 cake yeast
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 c. mixed candied fruit
1 c. raisins
1 c. milk (lukewarm)
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. nuts
Preparation

Dissolve yeast in a little warm water.
Mix shortening, salt, sugar, egg, vanilla and milk.
Add yeast mixture, then flour.
Mix well.
Add raisins, candied fruit and nuts.
Let rise.
Divide into 3 parts.
Roll each portion into a long roll.
Form into a braid.
Let rise until light.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
