Civil War Pound Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. sugar
1 lb. flour
1 lb. butter
12 eggs
1 lemon, grated and 1/2 juice
Preparation

Dissolve soda (the size of a pea) in 1 tablespoon of cold water.
Beat eggs separately and very well.
Mix whites last.
Fold in carefully.
Bake about one hour or until tested with a straw that comes out clean.
