Date Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. dates (1/2 lb.)
    1/2 c. nuts
    1 egg, beaten
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. hot water
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Put the hot water and soda over the dates and let stand while you mix up the rest, then put all together.
    Cook 1 cup brown sugar and 1 1/2 cups boiling water until sugar dissolves.
    Pour over pudding batter before baking.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
