Carbonnades 'A La Flamande - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 slices bacon (1-inch long)
    3 large sliced onions
    3 lb. stew meat, chunked
    salad oil
    1 bouillon cube
    3/4 Tbsp. salt
    1/4 Tbsp. thyme
    2 Tbsp. flour
    12 oz. beer
    1/2 c. water
    1 small bay leaf
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/8 Tbsp. pepper
    2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
Preparation
    Cook bacon until brown.
    Put bacon in 3-quart casserole dish. In bacon grease, cook onions until tender and lightly brown. Place with bacon in dish.
    In grease, cook beef chunks until browned on all sides.
    Add salad oil if necessary.
    Put in dish.
