Beignets(New Orleans Style Square Donuts) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 to 3 1/4 c. flour
    1 pkg. active dry yeast
    1 c. milk
    1/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    powdered sugar (to sift on top)
    shortening (for frying)
Preparation
    In large bowl, stir together 1 1/2 cups flour and yeast.
    In saucepan, heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt to 115\u00b0 to 120\u00b0. Stir constantly.
    Add heated mixture to flour mixture; add egg. Beat with electric mixer on low 1/2 minute.
    Beat 3 minutes on high.
    Use spoon and stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
    Place dough in greased bowl, turn once to grease surface. Cover and refrigerate dough until chilled.
    (Chill overnight and fry for breakfast.)
