Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large onions
    2 c. flour
    1/4 c. cornmeal
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. garlic salt
    1 egg
    2 c. milk
    2 c. cooking oil for deep frying
Preparation
    Mix flour, cornmeal, baking soda, pepper, garlic salt and egg. Slowly add milk to make a thick, smooth batter.
    Try not to make it too runny.
    Use less milk if you need to.
    Cut onions into rings.
    Prepare oil by heating to frying temperature.
    Dip onions into batter and put immediately into oil.
    If oil is hot, the rings will start frying immediately.
    Let the rings fry until golden brown.
    Remove and place on paper towel to drain.
    Serve with catsup or barbecue sauce.
    Serves 6 to 8.
