Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. ginger
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. allspice
    2 tsp. cloves
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. butter or shortening
    5 eggs, beaten
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 1/2 c. blackberry jam
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add eggs and beat until fluffy.
    Sift flour, salt and spices together.
    Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
    Fold in the jam and pour into three 9-inch round pans that have been greased and lined with wax paper.
    Bake for 40 minutes in 325\u00b0 oven.
    Ice with caramel icing.
