Amaretto Slush - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    4 1/2 c. water
    1 (6 oz.) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed and undiluted
    1 c. Amaretto
    lemon-lime carbonated beverage, chilled
    maraschino cherries (optional)
Preparation
    Combine sugar and water in a saucepan, stirring well.
    Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves.
    Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
    Combine sugar mixture, lemonade and Amaretto; stir well and freeze mixture overnight.
    Break frozen mixture into chunks.
    Scoop into glasses, filling 1/3 to 1/2 full.
    Add carbonated beverage; stir until slushy.
    Top each serving with a cherry, if desired.
    Yield:
    7 1/2 cups.
