Ingredients

1/2 c. soft butter
1 (3 oz.) pkg. soft cream cheese
1 egg
1/2 c. finely chopped red candied cherries
1 tsp. almond extract
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
3/4 c. rolled oats
Preparation

Beat butter and cream cheese together.
Stir in egg, cherries and almond extract.
Mix and sift sugar, flour, salt and baking powder.
Add to butter mixture.
Beat well.
Stir in oats; blend well.
Chill.
Shape mixture into small balls about 3/4-inch in diameter.
Place on greased cookie sheets.
Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in flour.
Place a slice of cherry on top and press into each cookie.
Bake in 375\u00b0 oven 10 to 20 minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
