American Shortcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. blueberries
    6 c. strawberries, sliced
    2 to 3 Tbsp. sugar
    2 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. grated orange rind
    1/3 c. shortening
    3/4 c. milk
    sweetened whipped cream or frozen whipped topping
Preparation
    Mix berries with sugar; set aside.
    Mix dry ingredients with rind and cut in shortening until crumbly.
    Stir in milk just until blended.
    Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead 10 to 12 times.
    Pat out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into 3-inch circles. Place 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 450\u00b0 until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes.
    Split and fill with whipped cream and berries.
