Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. white cornmeal
    1/2 c. flour (plain)
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 tsp. Tabasco
    1/2 c. finely chopped onion
    vegetable oil (for frying)
Preparation
    In a small bowl, mix the dry ingredients.
    Stir in buttermilk, egg, Tabasco and onion.
    In a heavy saucepan, heat enough oil for deep frying.
    Form the batter into rounded tablespoonfuls and drop into the hot oil.
    Fry only until light brown.
    Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
