Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, shredded
    1/2 c. onions, chopped
    1/2 c. celery, diced
    1/2 c. green peppers, chopped
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. peas (frozen), cooked, drained and cooled
    1 pt. mayonnaise
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    3/4 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
    10 bacon slices, fried and crumbled or may use bacon bits instead
Preparation
    Layer the lettuce, onions, celery, peppers and peas in a large bowl. Cover with a layer of mayonnaise. Sprinkle with sugar, grated cheese and bacon in that order. Cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 24 hours, if necessary. Serves about 8.
