Chinese Chews - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 c. nuts
    1 lb. chopped dates
    1/4 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add beaten eggs, then the flour that has been sifted with the cream of tartar and the soda.
    Mix well. Add dates, nuts and flavoring.
    Spread in 8-inch pan.
    Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
