Meadowbrook Farm Traditional New Year'S Day Dinner - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. fresh pork, cut into 1-inch cubes
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 Tbsp. fat
    1/2 c. water
    1 (No. 2 1/2) can sauerkraut
    1 apple, pared and cored
    1 onion, chopped
    4 dumplings
Preparation
    Season pork cubes with salt and pepper.
    Brown in fat in large heavy saucepan.
    Combine water, sauerkraut, apple and onion; add to pork.
    Simmer 40 minutes.
    Place dumplings on top of sauerkraut.
    Cover pan; steam until done.
    Lift dumplings onto plate.
    Place sauerkraut in deep dish or platter.
    Cover with pork cubes; top with dumplings.
