Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine, softened
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
5 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk
Preparation

In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
Cover and refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes.
On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut out cookies into desired shapes and place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes, or until edges are slightly browned.
Yields 8 dozen 2 1/2-inch cookies.
