Danish Pastry Apple Bars - cooking recipe

2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk (reserve egg white)
enough milk to make 2/3 c. with egg yolk
2 handfuls cornflakes, crushed
8 apples
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar
1 c. powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. water
