Sugar Gems - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. confectioners sugar
    1 c. granulated sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. salad oil
    1/2 lb. butter
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Cream sugars, butter and oil until fluffy.
    Beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and blend in well.
    Drop cookies on sheet, dip glass in sugar and press on cookie.
    (I prefer to roll cookies in sugar and press with glass.)
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until lightly brown (very light).
    Makes about 40 very large cookies or 100 to 150 small cookies.
