Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 medium green tomatoes
    3/4 c. yellow cornmeal
    1/4 c. flour
    2 tsp. salt
    few dashes of pepper
    vegetable oil
Preparation
    Cut tomatoes into 1/2-inch slices.
    Mix cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper; dip both sides of tomato slices into mixture.
    Heat oil in a skillet until sizzling hot.
    Put in tomatoes and cook quickly until browned on underside.
    Turn tomatoes carefully; reduce heat and cook until thoroughly hot and soft through center. Remove to paper towels to drain.
    Makes 4 servings.
