"Company Coming" Potato Casserole(100 Year Old Recipe. One Of President Lincoln'S Favorites) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
    8 Tbsp. butter (or half margarine)
    6 Tbsp. flour
    2 c. heavy cream (half and half)
    1 c. grated sharp cheese
    1/2 c. fine bread crumbs
    pepper and salt to taste
    2 c. rinsed pinto beans
    2 to 3-inches water in kettle
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. white sugar
    1 tsp. mustard
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    dash of pepper
    1 onion, minced
    1/4 c. molasses
    dash of catsup
    4 to 6 green tomatoes
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. flour
    1/2 c. butter
    sugar
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Slice unpeeled tomatoes 1/2-inch thick.
    Dip each slice into beaten egg, then flour.
    Fry in butter until lightly brown on each side.
    Stack in casserole, 3 to 4 slices high, sprinkling each slice lightly with sugar, salt and pepper.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
