New And Safe Eggnog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. low-fat milk
    6 eggs
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. heavy cream, whipped
Preparation
    Heat milk in saucepan.
    Do not boil.
    Beat eggs in, boil.
    Add salt, gradually beat in sugar. Beat 1 cup of hot milk in egg mixture.
    Then add egg mixture to remaining hot milk mixture in saucepan. Beat constantly.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickens and 160\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Stir in 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and vanilla.
    Place saucepan in large bowl of ice for 12 minutes.
    Cover and refrigerate 24 hours.
