Date Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. water
1 (8 oz.) pkg. sugar coated dates
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
dash of salt
2 c. chopped pecans

Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Mix baking soda with water until dissolved.
Add to creamed mixture.
Sift flour with spices and salt.
Add to creamed mixture.
Mix well. Add chopped dates and pecans.
Batter will be stiff.
Refrigerate overnight for easier handling.
To bake, form into balls and flatten with rolling pin.
Sprinkle top with sugar.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until light brown.
