Yankee Pot Roast - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 (14 lb.) beef roast
3 Tbsp. salad oil
1 (8 oz.) can tomato
4 medium carrots, diced
4 stalks celery, diced
1 medium turnips, diced
2 medium onion, diced
2 Tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation

About 4 hours before serving, in Dutch oven over medium heat, in hot salad oil, brown the meat well on all sides.
Add remaining ingredients with 1 1/2 cups water and heat until boiling.
Reduce heat; cook until fork-tender.
Serve meat with pan liquid.
Makes 10 to 12 servings.
