Never Fail Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    5 Tbsp. chicken broth (warm)
    1 egg, beaten
Preparation
    Boil a whole chicken in a Dutch oven pot with water.
    (Cover chicken over half way with water) after chicken is done, take out of broth to cool.
    Mix flour and shortening in together first. Then add all other ingredients.
    (I beat my egg in with the 5 tablespoons of chicken broth.) After mixing all ingredients, mixture should be a soft dough.
    Roll out dough very thin and let stand for about 10 minutes.
    Then cut into strips and drop into boiling broth.
    Simmer about 15 minutes, then add deboned chicken to dumplings.
