Peppery Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. yellow corn meal
    1/2 c. plus 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    medium green pepper, finely chopped
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. Creole seasoning
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    2/3 c. water
    1/2 c. melted margarine
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 c. grated onion
    2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
Preparation
    Combine dry ingredients; add buttermilk, water, margarine and eggs. Mix well. Stir in onion and peppers. Carefully drop batter by teaspoon into hot oil (375\u00b0). Fry 3 to 5 minutes, turning once, until hush puppies are golden brown.
    Drain well on paper towels. Yields about 2 1/2 dozen.
