Ingredients

1 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 1/8 c. flour
1 c. hickory nuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar in large mixing bowl until light.
Add egg, mixing well.
Stir in flour until well combined.
Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
Shape dough into 2 long rolls; wrap each roll in waxed paper.
Chill several hours.
Slice rolls into 1/4-inch slices and place on cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 7 to 8 minutes.
