Boston Brown Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. water
1 1/2 c. raisins
2 Tbsp. Spry or other shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. molasses
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour (don't sift)
1 egg
1/2 c. nuts
Preparation

Put water and raisins in large pan; boil for 5 minutes (cool).
While still warm, add all other ingredients.
Mix together well.
Add nuts last.
Grease cans fully to top.
Half fill them.
Bake
until well brown in 350\u00b0 oven for 45 to 60 minutes.
Cool for short time.
While still warm, tip out of can on wax paper.
(Use 3 or 4 No. 2 cans, vegetable or fruit.)
