Black Forest Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box Duncan Hines devil's food cake mix, baked according to directions on box
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
    1 stick margarine
    1 box powdered sugar
    1 can cherry pie filling
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Bake the cake in 9-inch pans.
    Cool thoroughly and split each layer in half.
    Spread the cherry pie filling between the split layers.
    Now you have the original 2 layers with cherry filling in between.
    Reserve 1/2 cup pie filling to go on top of cake.
