12 slices bacon, diced and fried until crisp (reserve 6 Tbsp. drippings)
3 medium-size onions, chopped (about 2 c.)
1 c. less 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. pepper
2 to 3 lb. potatoes, cooked, peeled and cut in 1/4-inch slices*
