2 (1-ounce) square unsweetened baking chocolate*
2 cups granulated sugar
1/8 tsp. salt (optional)
1/2 cup milk (or evaporated milk)
1/4 to 1/3 cup peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 cups quick-cooking oats

Line a baking sheet with waxed paper or foil; set aside.
