Steamed Sponge Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. plain flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. cornmeal
    3/8 c. granulated sugar
    3 to 4 oz. water
    2 Tbsp. maple syrup
Preparation
    Bring water to a boil.
    Add sugar and cook until it dissolves. Remove mixture to cool for later use.
    Sieve plain flour and baking powder into a mixing bowl.
    Slowly blend in syrup and stir well to form a batter.
    Add cornmeal and mix well.
    Let mixture sit awhile. Pour the above cornmeal batter into small greased bowls, 3/4 full. Arrange them on a steamer.
    Steam them for 20 to 30 minutes until done.
