Caramel Corn - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla (optional)
    6 qt. popped corn
    1 to 1 1/2 c. nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Boil butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add baking soda and vanilla (this should foam).
    Pour over the popped corn.
    Bake in a large, buttered/greased, shallow baking pan(s) at 250\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Stir every 15 minutes and stir occasionally as it cools.
