Red Cabbage With Apples - cooking recipe

1 medium red cabbage, shredded
1 to 2 apples, cored and sliced
2 Tbsp. bacon fat
1 medium onion
1 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cloves
1 bay leaf
3 Tbsp. vinegar and sugar or to taste
Preparation

Combine all ingredients in a large skillet.
Cook over medium heat, covered, stirring occasionally, for 20 to 25 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
