Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. white syrup
    1/2 c. water
    2 c. raw peanuts
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Boil sugar, syrup and water until it will spin a thread (240\u00b0). Add peanuts and salt and continue cooking slowly over a low fire until it turns a golden brown at the hard-crack stage (300\u00b0). Remove from fire and add butter, baking soda and vanilla.
    Stir quickly.
    Spread on two large cookie sheets that have been well buttered.
    Cool and break into pieces.
