Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box German chocolate cake mix
    1 (14 oz.) bag caramels (48 Kraft caramels), unwrapped
    1/2 c. Milnot condensed milk
    1 c. chocolate chips (6 oz.; optional)
    1 c chopped pecans
    3/4 stick butter
Preparation
    Mix cake as box directions.
    Place 1/2 of batter in 9 x 12-inch pan.
    Bake for 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Melt caramels with 1/2 cup Milnot and 3/4 stick butter.
    Pour over cake.
    Spread nuts over caramel mixture (also chocolate chips, if used).
    Spread remaining batter on top and bake for 20 minutes.
    Spread with chocolate icing or dust with powdered sugar.
