Asparagus Casserole - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 cans asparagus
2 c. milk
4 Tbsp. butter
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. white pepper
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 to 1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese (optional)
1/2 to 1 c. toasted slivered almonds (optional)
Preparation

Make white sauce.
Melt butter in top of double boiler.
Add all flour slowly, stirring constantly until roux is made. Gradually add milk, stirring continuously until all is used. Sauce will be thin at first but will eventually thicken to desired consistency.
Add salt and both peppers and stir.
May add cheese at this point.
Stir until cheese melts.
