Fudge Sauce (Hot Or Cold)(1 Pint) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    2 (1 oz.) sq. bitter chocolate
    dash of salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. less 2 Tbsp. evaporated milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Heat butter and chocolate over simmering water in double boiler until melted.
    Stir in salt, then the sugar in four or five portions, being sure to blend thoroughly.
    The mix becomes very thick.
    Now stir in milk, very slowly.
    Then cook 5 to 6 minutes longer, stirring frequently.
    Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Store in refrigerator in a container with tight fitting lid.
    To use hot, set jar in warm water for 30 minutes.
