Ingredients

2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Measure and sift dry ingredients.
Set aside.
Cream shortening.
Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition. Add beaten eggs.
Stir in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk and vanilla.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 425\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
Yield:
about 3 dozen.
