3 c. sifted cake flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 lb. box powdered sugar
4 egg yolks, well beaten
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. flaked coconut
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Preparation

Sift flour once; measure and add baking powder and salt.
Sift together 3 times.
Cream butter thoroughly.
Add sugar gradually and fluffy.
Add egg yolks and beat well.
Add flour alternately with milk, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition. Add vanilla and coconut.
Fold in egg whites frequently and thoroughly.
Bake in 3 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans at 375\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool and frost.
