Carrot Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small minced onion
    1/4 c. melted butter
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 c. milk
    1/4 tsp. white or black pepper
    4 c. sliced, cooked carrots
    6 slices American cheese
    2 c. buttered bread crumbs
Preparation
    In a large skillet, saute onions in melted butter until tender; do not brown.
    Stir in flour, salt and pepper.
    Gradually add milk and stir constantly until thickened.
    Layer carrots and then cheese in 2-quart casserole.
    Pour sauce over all and top with bread crumbs.
    Bake uncovered at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
