Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    6 medium white onions
    2 bell peppers
    3 cloves garlic
    1/3 c. salt
    3 c. cider vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    3 c. sugar
Preparation
    Do not peel cucumbers; slice thin.
    Slice onions and bell peppers.
    Mix together.
    Add garlic and salt.
    Cover with ice. Mix thoroughly.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Drain well and combine remaining ingredients.
    Pour over cucumber mixture.
    Heat just to a boil.
    Seal in hot sterilized jars.
    Makes 6 pints.
