Fresh Apple Pound Cake - cooking recipe

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. margarine
3 c. plain flour
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 c. fresh apples, grated
1/2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation

Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, beating after each one.
Add vanilla and mix well.
Mix flour, spices, salt and soda together and add to sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Fold in apples and pecans.
Blend well.
Pour into 10-inch well-greased and floured tube cake pan. Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Remove and brush with glaze.
